2014 Houston Art Car Parade
In 2011, Liberty Van tied with
her sister, Freedom Van for a Free Speech trophy. I am still amazed we
ever
got anything at this event, as
it is the most AMAZING
collection of OUTRAGEOUS, beautiful, and some
outright whacky creations on
wheels I've ever seen in my life. I LOVE The Houston Art Car Parade.
It is on Mother's Day weekend
every year. If you haven't been to it, you are MISSING
OUT.

After the parade, at night after
dark, MANY of the art cars participate in an "Illuminated Cruise".
We cruise downtown Houston with
LIGHTS ON, and stop to party along the
way.
Sunday AM, there is a brunch, and
awards ceremony. IMO, EVERY entry is a winner : )
And, this year, I donated desert - a
cake to celebrate Liberty Van's 400,000 + miles. She won't be 10 years old
till end of next month,
and she's almost half way through her
NINTH year as an art car. Kind of
freaking me out, looking at that 4 with ALL those zeros after
it.
Next year, it will be Freedom Van's
turn. They have to take turns, unless I manage to find another driver
again. Last
year, I brought Freedom Van in her
green St. Patrick's day drag. I usually do her up in butterflies in April,
for spring
